This document applies to all EIZO branded products.
Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), EIZO has experienced an increase in inquiries regarding how to disinfect and clean its products safely.
Follow the steps outlined below to minimize damage to the products when disinfecting:
- Wear disposable gloves when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.
- Turn off the device and disconnect AC power. Never clean a product while it is powered on or plugged in.
- Disconnect any external devices.
- Never spray any liquids directly onto the product.
- Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. EIZO recommends the microfiber cloth that comes with EIZO's ScreenCleaner kit. Using material other than a microfiber cloth could cause damage to your product.
- Moisten a soft cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol solution. Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully for cleaning and disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol.
- The cloth should be damp, but not dripping wet.
- When cleaning a display screen, wipe off any dirt on the display surface with the cloth moistened with cleaning fluid. Do not press on the screen or edge of the frame strongly, as this may result in display malfunctions. Do not attempt to brush as this may scratch the panel.
- Ensure surfaces have completely air-dried before turning the device on after cleaning. No moisture should be visible on the surfaces of the product before it is powered on.
- Discard the disposable gloves used after each cleaning. Clean your hands immediately after gloves are removed and disposed.
The above cleaning process may cause tarnishing, fading of the surface, changes to the screen's glossiness, or image quality redction.
Never use any thinner, benzene, wax, or abrasive cleaner, which may damage the products. Do not let chemicals come into direct contact with the products.
Please read the instructions and the limited warranty of the products carefully to familiarize yourself with safe and effective usage.
Often, people forget to establish the USB connection between the monitor and the PC/Mac. ColorNavigator uses the USB cable to calibrate the monitor. Please check that the USB cable is inserted correctly and is also functioning properly.
EIZO monitors have a USB-C interface that supports what is known as DisplayPort Alternate Mode. This allows the monitors to receive image signals via a USB-C connection. The computer system and/or its USB-C port also has to support this mode, e.g., MacBook Pro and its Thunderbolt interface. Please note the computer manufacturer’s specifications.
EcoView Automatic is turned on by briefly pressing a button. In the case of strong lighting, the image brightness is increased, while it is reduced in the case of weak lighting. This results in the highest levels of ergonomic comfort at the workstation thanks to the most constant contrast possible, which incidentally saves both money and the environment.
Our recommendations for ColorEdge monitors are as follows:
White balance:
In practice, it is common to align the white balance of the screen with the light box (and not with the working color space). This is usually D50, or 5000 Kelvin.
D65 is usually used for proofing in daylight or for photography in general.
Gamma:
We recommend that users select the tonal values of the monitor to approximate the working color space as closely as possible. That way, the application’s/operating system’s color management does not have to do as much work to correct the tone values for the monitor output.
Examples:
PhotoRGB, Adobe RGB, and sRGB are based on a gamma characteristic of 2.2. This means that the screen should also be calibrated to 2.2. ECI-RGB is based on a gamma of 1.8.
The L* gamut does not recognize any gamma function; instead, L is equidistant. Overall, these recommendations refer to the smallest differences in hues.
When calculating the output, color management takes into account the monitor profile that contains the set gamma. Users should select the monitor gamma in accordance with the gamut gamma in order to eliminate banding. Alternatively, users can work without gamma, only using L* for the monitor and gamut. However, the illuminance of the proof does not really recognize color management. Because of this, the screen’s white balance should be selected in accordance with the illuminance of the proof, and not in accordance with the gamut.
Our recommendations for FlexScan monitors are as follows:
Gamma = 2.2 und white balance = 6500
Please check whether there is an audio connection between the computer and the monitor (HDMI, DisplayPort or audio cable). Select the audio input accordingly and configure the volume.
Power Resolution enhances contours and microstructures on the screen. This makes the image display clearer and more vivid. Games, videos, and images take on more depth and appear roomier in dimension. This is particularly effective for slightly blurred scenes as well as ones with a metallic reflection. Structures and contours can be displayed in sharper or softer focus as desired. The user can activate Power Resolution and define the extent to which it is activated using the OnScreen menu.
Note:
High-resolution one-point pixel patterns (mesh patterns), such as ones in moving images of bushes or rocks, require very high-performance graphics boards to optimally display movement. If delays arise due to lower-performance graphics boards, we recommend reducing the Power Resolution setting to 1 or switching it off entirely. Otherwise, the delays may cause annoying changes in brightness.
The warranty for EIZO RadiForce monitors is 5 years for most models including an on-site replacement service. EIZO recommends an image brightness that is considerably higher than the minimum requirements in accordance with QS RL for monitors used for medical diagnostics. This recommended brightness is guaranteed by EIZO.
The corresponding product data sheets show which guarantee applies to which RadiForce model.
In terms of ports available on the monitors: generally speaking, yes. We recommend graphics boards with DisplayPort 1.2 or higher for monitors with 4K resolution.
A signal input with DisplayPort signal version 1.2 (or higher) or HDMI with 4K and 60 Hz is required to be able to operate 4K resolutions with 60 Hz.
